Golden Knights of Kymer are Disbanded - November 8th, 2000
Taken from the Virtual Planet article written by Grampa Dan entitled Golden Knights of Kymer are Disbanded - November 8th, 2000. The transcript was already edited from the original by Grampa Dan. For the sake of legibility, we have broken up the transcript to make it a little more readable.
From left to right, Michael (Avaterra), Trev, Morning Glory, Pal Joey - Guardian GK, Caretaker Kashmir, Caretaker Rabbit.
With Pal Joey’s permission, I’m submitting a transcript (partially edited by this writer) of conversations which occurred on Wednesday afternoon on Temple Street. Everyone can make their own decisions about that has transpired. These conversations continued on past where I have cut off the dialogue, and if requested by the VP Staff, I will resubmit the entire transcript, uncut and unedited at all. I have cut the discussions off where I did because Pal Joey’s point had been made. From this writer’s own personal feelings, I’d like to make one statement. Towards the end of these conversations, Management is trying to hint or say that the Golden Knights of Kymer are not necessarily disbanded. To me, this is totally untrue. Pal Joey IS the backbone of the Golden Knights. HE is the one who swore in and Knighted us the membership. It is not a matter of sheep following their leader blindly. It is a matter of respect and loyalty of us the membership to our one true leader...Joey. If there had been a movement by the Chief Golden Knights to disband, but Pal Joey wanted to go on, then the Golden Knights would have continued in Kymer. However, there are no longer any Golden Knights left in Kymer. Some may choose to want to continue to call themselves such, set up their own independent organization. As Joey said, he has no control over that....he is departing. From now on, others may call themselves as they please, the original and real Golden Knights of Kymer are gone.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: hello, 5 years ago I landed here and from day one all I have ever done is help the people of our community.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: I continued until ... (although I never had it in mind to be in a group)
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: I found myself starting up the GK's in an answer to crime in the streets. That was not something I wanted to do but HAD to do because I just couldn't take it anymore.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: The GK's have done nothing but help the community in any way we could. Creating the welcome centers along the way. That is our mission and all we did!
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: I formed the group. I am dissolving it.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: We are moving and that is the soul issue. No more personalities and innuendo.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: Just a fact of life. Some will be happy to be sure; others will not. No matter. It's a done deal.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: I leave behind many friends..that I regret. The auction...store ...GK treasury all of it will be left to die with the turfs.
Caretaker Kashmir: Joey, what about the items other people gave to you to sell on their behalf?
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: Materialism is the hallmark sin of this place and it is fitting that materials should die with departure. Consignments will of course be returned. nobody will be disturbed by any of this.
Michael (Avaterra): Materialism, as you call it -- I kind of prefer calling it "natural desire to collect things" -- is what these worlds make go round. Look at Pride --- it has no economy, and it has no people.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: Yes it is the base of the economy from which crime springs. No matter there either.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: Moot argument.
Michael (Avaterra): But there are other reasons too.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: Sure their are many arguments for it but without normal checks and balances everything is one sided. A community of sheep at the mercy of predators.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: When a crime is found out, we are roundly criticized for it. Our efforts in the interest of the community are shunned. So we have outlived our usefulness.
Caretaker Rabbit: I also disagree on two fronts.
Caretaker Rabbit: The main being that it should not have been the leaders acting.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: You can disagree on any front you want. We are dissolving.
Caretaker Rabbit: It should be the group as a whole deciding their own fate and worthiness to the community.
Caretaker Kashmir: so then the GK leadership is leaving and there is nothing stopping the remaining members from reforming is there?
Caretaker Rabbit: You are merely treating them as the sheep you are accusing the community of being.
Caretaker Kashmir: and any and all remaining members
Caretaker Rabbit: Then I urge the current members to tell their leaders otherwise.
Trev: Rabz, it's not your call.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: They can form whatever group they want after my departure and suffer any abuses with it. No matter to me at all.
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: Yes
Caretaker Kashmir: can continue on as GKs
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: Whomever selects to go, or stay, or go in any place as they want.
Caretaker Kashmir: so therefore, nothing has in fact been disbanded
Pal Joey - Guardian GK: As far as our charter, as recognized by Teresias, IS now null and void!
