Dreamscape Town Meeting - February 26th, 2000

Oracle Electra met with members of the community on Saturday Feb 26 to answer questions and discuss general topics of interest.

All questions posed to Electra were emailed prior to the meeting,  or asked via ESP during the meeting .  This text has been edited to remove comments not related to the topics at hand.

Oracle Electra: but don't want to have to do that, either

Oracle Electra: we are still having Technical Problems that prevent us using our tools

Oracle Electra: we will have some workarounds if the prizes are not ready yet

Oracle Electra: and all winners will still get their prizes as soon as possible

Oracle Electra: Squall has worked very hard on getting this together, and we are not going to cancel it <grin>

Oracle Electra: there is also a Mage hunt this weekend, today and tomorrow

Oracle Electra: for those who don't know how that works

Oracle Electra: it does not mean there are mages in 24 hours

Oracle Electra: you keep trying, and when you know one or more are inworld

Oracle Electra: you look for them in the jungle

Oracle Electra: if you find one and are one of the first ones there

Oracle Electra: you get that Mage's star

Oracle Electra: the star will be in the color of the Mage

Oracle Electra: they aren't easy to find

Oracle Electra: okay, a question about clicking a URL that has active X that causes your browser to download the fjwa.ini file to someone else when you click it

Oracle Electra: if you Page an Aco, we can ask them to change the URL

Oracle Electra: but you can block this from happening

Acolyte Daemonium: Altho, the browser should ask you if you want to install the ActiveX first.

Acolyte Aphrael: yep you can deactivate ActiveX

Oracle Electra: You can make sure everyone knows about the hinds, and that they don't have any other names

Oracle Electra: and that they don't ask for tokens

Oracle Electra: we cannot block the name from being used

Oracle Electra: the path from you to Dreamscape is long, and lag can be introduced anywhere along that path

Oracle Electra: I did notice the other day that there were reports of attack on the net again

Oracle Electra: one was on the Stock information, which was shut down for a while

Oracle Electra: I noticed that during that time, I was lagging in here quite a bit

Oracle Electra: so I think some may be due to things like that

Oracle Electra: the net itself just gets too bogged down

Oracle Electra: Will 7 room generic turfs be brought back

Oracle Electra: I don't know, we don't have it planned at this time

Oracle Electra: but that doesn't mean no <grin>

Oracle Electra: Will there be other rare or special heads in the luxury vendo

Oracle Electra: maybe <grin>

Oracle Electra: will the fact that we are not able to use our tools mean there will be no March turf?

Oracle Electra: No, it doesn't. The turf is ready

Oracle Electra: a nice one if you ask me <G>

Oracle Electra: it could, however, be delay a few days before it's added

Oracle Electra: if we can't add it on the 1st as normal

Oracle Electra: just hold off...watch the banner

Oracle Electra: the color will change when the turf does

Oracle Electra: other things that are normally done on the 1st, new Acolyte prizes and Monthly heads could also be delayed a few days

Oracle Electra: and during October when the Mansion is open, those are nighttime locales

Oracle Electra: Will we be able to buy the paints the first week of March?

Oracle Electra: it isn't actually the first week of March

Oracle Electra: it's the first Monday, which is around the 7th

Oracle Electra: I hope the tools will be able to be used by then

Oracle Electra: if not, we will do them for 7 days as soon as the tools are restored

Oracle Electra: we will not skip March

Oracle Electra: When will the no Art rule and item recycling end

Oracle Electra: item recycling will never end

Oracle Electra: we have to reuse items

Oracle Electra: as for new Art, I don't know when we will be able to get any

Oracle Electra: Now that Lynx is gone and we have new Events CT's, will the prizes change? For instance, heads for first place?

Oracle Electra: Not very likely. We do not have enough head art to use them this way

Oracle Electra: Most of the heads that are not yet released are either used as Monthly heads

Oracle Electra: or are not suitable as prizes

Oracle Electra: so we will pretty much stick with what has been done so far

Oracle Electra: Will we be signing any new Acolytes for DS?

Oracle Electra: eventually, yes

Oracle Electra: but not soon

Oracle Electra: we lose staff members to various RW reasons

Oracle Electra: and sooner or later, we will need more staff members

Oracle Electra: these will be chosen from the applications that we have on file

Oracle Electra: Will there be other Oracles coming?
