Dreamscape Town Meeting - July 29th, 2000
Original article courtesy of the Virtual Planet newspaper.
Michael (Avaterra): Hi everyone!
Acolyte Voodoo Cat: huggs Michael
Michael (Avaterra): Good to be here.
Acolyte Kashmir: that it is
Michael (Avaterra): Okay... I only have few announcements before we can start taking questions.
Michael (Avaterra): First, the multi avatar login -- this probably highly annoys you by now, however, it will take at least another week before
Michael (Avaterra): we can continue to enable this feature on the acocunts that do not already have it.
Michael (Avaterra): Once some things are sorted out, I'll send a note to the Dreamscape papers.
Michael (Avaterra): so just keep an eye on the news for updates.
Michael (Avaterra): Second ... some of you have heard that Delilah resigned late last week. This is a bit of a confusing issue, so
Michael (Avaterra): let me give you the info I have.
Michael (Avaterra): It is true that Delilah resigned, and that she also posted a public announcement. After talking to
Michael (Avaterra): some friends and staff members she seemed to be willing to think about it, and thus the sysops moved the
Michael (Avaterra): resignation announcement. This basically is the current status. Hopefully by early next we will have
Michael (Avaterra): more detailed and accurate information.
Michael (Avaterra): This is all I have .... Kash, ready?

Michael (Avaterra): Hi Mijage!
Acolyte Kashmir: hiya Mij
Mijage: howdy folks
Mijage: Will the temporary ban on CT's making items have any effect on the head painting coming?
Michael (Avaterra): The temporary "ban" on using the "fiddle" (creation tool) should be lifted by
Michael (Avaterra): next weeks. The technical staff asked us to limit the fiddle usage until some server and database issues have been resolved.
Michael (Avaterra): The purpose is to make sure that the worlds don't crash again -- I don't think you and I could
Michael (Avaterra): handle another downtime
Mijage: heck no
Michael (Avaterra): The head painting should not be affected by this - since this was not scheduled prior to
Michael (Avaterra): next week, anyway.
Mijage: ok, thanks

Acolyte Kashmir: Zip wanted numbers on the chess board for tourney play
Michael (Avaterra): I think Electra was going to do that -- it was suggested (by you?) shortly before the town time..
Michael (Avaterra): down time
Michael (Avaterra): Gloree...
Caretaker gloree: yes?
Michael (Avaterra): Feel like doing this?
Caretaker gloree: sure
Caretaker gloree: there was a screen shot yes?
Zipman: and will i ever get my dule ave use
Michael (Avaterra): Electra will be back next week ... but if you have some time and would like to add the letters,
Michael (Avaterra): that would be great.
Zipman: yes i will get it for you g
Caretaker gloree: sure will, I need the screen shot
Caretaker gloree: can you send to me zipman?

Caretaker gloree: no worry

Zipman: yep
Michael (Avaterra): starting next week you should see her around much more often again
Caretaker gloree:
Zipman: what about dule ave thing
Zipman: i still don't heve it
Michael (Avaterra): Like I said, there are some problems that need to be sorted out before

BreezByYou: was just curious... about whether the beach turfs will still be ?
Michael (Avaterra): Yes, but the opening of the beach turfs has been delayed -- mainly because of
Michael (Avaterra): the server trouble. We cannot add new regions (locales) before Lambert and WildBill feel that
Michael (Avaterra): it won't cause technical problems. It is not likely that it would, however, I
Michael (Avaterra): think it's better to be safe than sorry.
BreezByYou: yes me too

May B : will those who left during the crash be able to get a refund on the months membership ?
Michael (Avaterra): You will not be charged for July, or so I was told.

Acolyte Kashmir: Honey-Chief Golden Knight
Michael (Avaterra): they did an outstanding job.
Michael (Avaterra): Hi Honey!
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: Hello
Acolyte Kashmir: hiya Honey
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: 2 questions please
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: First, will there be any adjustment or extension on turf rent due dates?
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: since we missed half a month of earning Ts during the downtime?
Michael (Avaterra): As it stands now, this seems impossible (technically).
Michael (Avaterra): Looking into different solution,s such as giving everyone a box
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: of Ts?
Michael (Avaterra): with tokens that would cover the rent for the most expensive turf.
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: cool
Michael (Avaterra): Instead of extending the rent due dates..
Honey-Chief Golden Knight:
Michael (Avaterra): so the free tokens idea seems to be best. The device would give everyone only one box.
Michael (Avaterra): Um. Good point.
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: was curious because many of us have more than 1 turf
Michael (Avaterra): Erm... if you have 20 turfs ... you are rich and don't need any boxes?
Acolyte Kashmir: nice try
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: lol...we are property rich and token poor?
Michael (Avaterra): True - can we assume that everyone has two turfs, average?
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: just a guess but I would think most have at least 2
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: most I know have at least 1 residence and 1 storage
Michael (Avaterra): well, we aren't charging membership fee for this month (ok, I have to try ) .... the thing is, we
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: some of us oldbie pack rats have multiple storages
Michael (Avaterra): cannot give everyone 20k or so. That would really hurt the economy.
Michael (Avaterra): so everyone (each avatar) gets a box with tokens that cover
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: just wanted to mention it for possible consideration on solutions
Michael (Avaterra): the rent for two turfs ...?
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: anything helps
Michael (Avaterra): since everyone has two avatars, it's basically rent for four turfs.
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: 2nd question is: When may we expect delivery on animeware orders placed before the crash?
Michael (Avaterra): Hopefully by end of next week -- if not sooner.
Honey-Chief Golden Knight: Thank you
Acolyte Kashmir: *** Kenn's Name List Manager ***

Michael (Avaterra): Hi Shawn
Shawn: my quistion is, Is that avatarwares Accepting orders now , and if so when u update the catalog is it all heads from other worlds owned by Avaterra and Fujitsu?
Shawn: or is it new animation
Michael (Avaterra): I think right now we are not accepted new orders -- not before the old ones have been delivered.
Michael (Avaterra): AvatarWares basically works like this: Avaterra has bought a bunch of
Michael (Avaterra): heads, accessories and items -- licensed them. These are the object we are
Michael (Avaterra): offering via AvatarWares.
Michael (Avaterra): It is not our "original" artwork ... which is why it's not available in vendos.
Shawn: so we are not being issued heads from the japenese worlds like Glasscity?
Shawn: or that other one i forget the names
Shawn: habitat
Shawn: thanks Kathryn
Michael (Avaterra): Yes and no -- we have some of the GC heads (quite a few actually),
Michael (Avaterra): but not all of them.
Michael (Avaterra): same with Habitat heads. some of those are among the artwork Avaterra purchased.
Michael (Avaterra): They also have some our heads.

Sukubus: Why were we not informed of the true reason for the downtime straight away
Sukubus: Rather than being told it was just routine maintenance?
Sukubus: If we had been told it may have prevented the rumours from spreading and saved sys ops lots of time and stress.
Sukubus: HUggs Kash
Michael (Avaterra): It started as routine maintenance -- and then the hard drive died.

Sukubus: oh...okies....she was just wonderin'

Michael (Avaterra): Lambert Ma (tech), Steve Whyte (programmer) and David Peterson (lead programmer) working
Michael (Avaterra): on the server -- plus the SWAT volunteers.
Michael (Avaterra): The financial problems were a different issues... they did affect all of this, too, but

Caretaker gloree: lol yes

Egyptian Goddess: and are any anime items going to vendo?
Michael (Avaterra): The V-Mart changes are not done yet - quite a few vendos aren't
Michael (Avaterra): completely filled ... so yes, you will get more stuff there. Especially furniture items, including
Michael (Avaterra): light sources and more decent deco items.
Egyptian Goddess: can we possibly get new plants for decorating, like hanging vines and stuff?
Egyptian Goddess: pretty please?
Michael (Avaterra): yes ... I think we can do that.

Egyptian Goddess: and any anime to vendos at all? cuz you scared me with this crash
Michael (Avaterra): plants, too.
Acolyte Kashmir: sucks is the technical term right?
Egyptian Goddess: it's very technical
Michael (Avaterra): No, for now no anime vendos. I know, I know, this contradicts what I said a few months ago,
Egyptian Goddess: erm...yep
Michael (Avaterra): but that is not under my control. I *would* like to release at least some of

Razzleberry: heh
Razzleberry: I just want to know
Razzleberry: when DS is going to show signs of being
Razzleberry: worth twice the price of VZ
Razzleberry: as far as items are concerned
Razzleberry: I know there is no comparison of the two worlds
Razzleberry: where the people are concerned
Razzleberry: I love it here
Michael (Avaterra): Let me answer the question with a question ... what could be done that you (all of you) felt that
Razzleberry: But you promised DS would have more/better/different stuff
Razzleberry: whatever
Michael (Avaterra): Dreamscape is worth twice the price... compared toVZc?
Razzleberry: As far as the people are concerned yes
Razzleberry: But
Michael (Avaterra): yes ... you will continue to get new stuff -- you also have two avatars per account.
Razzleberry: I am not looking for an overinflated database here
Razzleberry: But
Razzleberry: For example
Razzleberry: when you remodeled V-Mart
Razzleberry: we lost all our green trees
Razzleberry: the ones that were available in the furniture displays
Razzleberry: and when you put the lava lamps in the vendo
Razzleberry: all the decent colors disappeared and now we have
Razzleberry: the worst collection I have ever seen
Razzleberry: no colors
Razzleberry: no contrast
Razzleberry: And the VZ plant selection is much better now
Razzleberry: than DS
Michael (Avaterra): you can't see them at night from 2000 miles distance anymore, that is true #
Razzleberry: that's exactly right
Razzleberry: now all lava lamps would go well in gothic turfs
Razzleberry: but nowhere else
Michael (Avaterra): Well, we have had bright lamps for quite some time, so we felt it
Michael (Avaterra): was time for some calmer colours, too.
Razzleberry: there are no colors
Razzleberry: and no contrast
Michael (Avaterra): I know not everyone is into Goth, but then again, not everyone likes bright colours, either.
Razzleberry: so why don't we have a selection?
Michael (Avaterra): They do have contrast on my screen...
Razzleberry: some of each
Razzleberry: And the Aladdin furniture
Razzleberry: is terrific
Michael (Avaterra): Point taken -- they will be rotated periodically, so the next batch will
Michael (Avaterra): contain some more colourful lava lamps.
Razzleberry: thanks
Acolyte Kashmir: ofgs
Caretaker gloree: w/b
Razzleberry: I think there should be options for everyone
Acolyte Kashmir: the humilation continues
Michael (Avaterra): The Aladin furniture... was originally restricted to
Michael (Avaterra): VZc...
Razzleberry: nice pink
Razzleberry: heh
Michael (Avaterra): but ... I have to admit ...
Michael (Avaterra): It would look good in Dreamscape as well.
Razzleberry: Well
Razzleberry: it is the options it provides
Razzleberry: large pillows
Razzleberry: Another example
Razzleberry: (I'm hurrying)
Razzleberry: I still have the text where you promised
Razzleberry: the anime bodies would only be available in DS
Razzleberry: the 2 "summer bodies"
Razzleberry: like this lovely one
Michael (Avaterra): They are only available for free in DS.
Michael (Avaterra): they are $25 in VZc
Michael (Avaterra): But,
Razzleberry: that's not what you said
Razzleberry: do you see what my point is?
Michael (Avaterra): no excuses, what you say is true -- and that was the#
Michael (Avaterra): original plan.
Razzleberry: and from what I read in the forums
Razzleberry: it seems like DS has been somewhat slighted
Razzleberry: in some areas
Michael (Avaterra): Unfortunately, it was changed, and yes, the critism is valid and I cannot justify it without
Razzleberry: and yet your most loyal customers
Razzleberry: live here
Michael (Avaterra): sounding totally "lame".
Razzleberry: Well
Razzleberry: I'm not asking for miracles
Razzleberry: or tons more stuff
Michael (Avaterra): No, it has not been slighted -- we receive the same complaints from the VZc members. though.
Razzleberry: because that also messes up the economy
Razzleberry: I have an account there still
Razzleberry: and I visit daily
Michael (Avaterra): They feel that Dreamscape is our favourite project now. The truth is, we have no favourite worlds, we
Michael (Avaterra): care about both of them.
Razzleberry: They don't know what they are talking about
Razzleberry: speculation
Michael (Avaterra): But it will always happen that one world gets something that the
Razzleberry: sure
Michael (Avaterra): other place does not get. Dreamscape has, for example, the interactive games -- VZc does not
Razzleberry: yes
Michael (Avaterra): have this, and quite a few members over there are not happy with this at all.
Razzleberry: And another promise not fulfilled
Razzleberry: the promise to change our monthly aco prizes
Razzleberry: more variety
Razzleberry: instead of changing colors
Razzleberry: There are lots of people
Razzleberry: who would be willing to come to DS
Razzleberry: people who others met in various worlds like Rose
Razzleberry: while we were "off"
Razzleberry: but in order to justify the monthly expense
Razzleberry: these people will want to see more options
Michael (Avaterra): See, one of Dreamscape's big advantages is also a big weakness: the age.
Razzleberry: How is that a weakness?
Michael (Avaterra): In August Dreamscape celebrates its 5th anniversary -- this also means that many items have
Michael (Avaterra): been used in the past already ... sure, there are many objects that current members have not seen, but
Michael (Avaterra): those who have been around for years have ... it would only be re-releases. However, I
Razzleberry: I don't expect to see new artwork
Razzleberry: I realize the expense involved
Michael (Avaterra): partly agree on the acolyte prizes and the low attraction they currently have. It is
Michael (Avaterra): something I am to blame for ... I did not approve many new releases recently. In addition, it has
Michael (Avaterra): been hard to get new artwork added to the database. I do hope this situation improves -- it's currently one of the
Michael (Avaterra): biggest problems that prevent a lot of new items in the world. (new items = unseen ones)
Razzleberry: I for one
Razzleberry: would be happy to see
Razzleberry: maybe an insignia hat
Razzleberry: as a monthly prize
Razzleberry: instead of a floppy one
Razzleberry: no new artwork
Razzleberry: but something on that order
Razzleberry: variety
Michael (Avaterra): I agree.
Razzleberry: shiny paints
Razzleberry: VZ has excellent paints
Michael (Avaterra): Kashmir could model some shiny pinks... weekly at these meetings.
Acolyte Kashmir:
Razzleberry: she does look a little flat
Michael (Avaterra): I cannot fix *that*.
Razzleberry: hahahaha
Acolyte Kashmir: yanno, would lock him out of the forums
Razzleberry: I am through pounding now
Acolyte Kashmir: but that's not punishment
Razzleberry: I should let someone else have a chance
Michael (Avaterra): I was hoping you would...
Razzleberry: but I do wish someone would go through V-mart
Razzleberry: with a "decorator's eye"
Michael (Avaterra): I will, I will ... and I am not against the idea of appointing a CT for
Razzleberry: and make a few changes
Michael (Avaterra): the V-Mart.
Razzleberry: I miss the green trees
Michael (Avaterra): or assigning it to one of the existing CTs.
Razzleberry: for example
Michael (Avaterra): I just cannot hire new CTs very soon -- maybe after August.
Razzleberry: I can wait
Razzleberry: But I wanted to make sure you were aware of the problem
Razzleberry: I know people in here who could bring in lots of new members
Razzleberry: people they met in other worlds
Razzleberry: thanks for listening

Acolyte Kashmir: EG, don't make me find Spooks
LuckyCharms: and about getting more caretakers
LuckyCharms: why don't you
LuckyCharms: ask the consumers what they want
LuckyCharms: in form of a questiionar
LuckyCharms: like David A did in tthe last days
LuckyCharms: you would not have to
Michael (Avaterra): Okay, let me answer this one first ...
LuckyCharms: be a great polititian
LuckyCharms: coming to the town meetings
LuckyCharms: promising stuff you want to do
LuckyCharms: for us
Michael (Avaterra): Wert suggested a way to survey people inworld, which is the way I would prefer. Only a
LuckyCharms: but get cancelled down the road
Michael (Avaterra): small percentage of members goes to the forums, and even fewer go there without having an actual technical problem.
LuckyCharms: and the care takers could be in charge of gathering the info
LuckyCharms: there are lots of people here that are into decorating
LuckyCharms: put out a questionary for them
LuckyCharms: then another for the shoppers
Michael (Avaterra): How do you prevent people from submitting 50 questionaries?
LuckyCharms: and discuss what can't be done
LuckyCharms: and why
LuckyCharms: then if the people don't like the changes you made
LuckyCharms: all you do is show them how we answered the questions
LuckyCharms:
LuckyCharms: it's so time consuming to come here
LuckyCharms: and listen to hearsay
LuckyCharms: about how many avies would like this and that
LuckyCharms: you need it in writing
LuckyCharms: votes
Michael (Avaterra): How do you prevent people from voting 50 times?
Michael (Avaterra): It takes very little time to get 50 different email addresses...
LuckyCharms: well the caretakers should have somewhat of an overlook
LuckyCharms: on who is who
LuckyCharms: not all but many are known and the alts
Michael (Avaterra): We have thousands of paying members,
Michael (Avaterra): many of them with more than one avatar.
LuckyCharms: we vote by avatar names
LuckyCharms: and I don't see more then 300 something in here last few days
Michael (Avaterra): How would they find out if an avatar name exists...? and even if so,
Michael (Avaterra): what if someone else votes under your name?
LuckyCharms: well if someone has 10 paying accounts
LuckyCharms: I guess they can vote 10 times
LuckyCharms: seems fair
LuckyCharms: and still more fair
LuckyCharms: then you guessing or promesing
LuckyCharms: us
LuckyCharms: what we want
LuckyCharms: much better then one or two of us coming here
LuckyCharms: and talking for hundrets
LuckyCharms: let all speak through voting or questionary
Michael (Avaterra): Everyone can send us email ... everyone can make suggestions to the caretakers,
LuckyCharms: does not have to be detailed
LuckyCharms: I mean just in general
Michael (Avaterra): these possibilities have always existed.
LuckyCharms: start there
LuckyCharms: just to actually listen to us
LuckyCharms: and they have not been exerced?
Michael (Avaterra): I do not disagree with what you are proposing, but if we want serious survey results or
LuckyCharms: what a shame
Michael (Avaterra): reliable votings, then we need to find ways to ensure that
LuckyCharms: well any company uses customer surveys
Michael (Avaterra): people cannot (or do not) cast multiple votes.
LuckyCharms: it's as reliable as any
Michael (Avaterra): Wert's idea is basically based on ESP, which I think is the most reliable and secure way -- not perfectly
Michael (Avaterra): safe, of course, but more reliable than email or web page surveys.
LuckyCharms: either it's reliable to vote for our fav avies and play fairly fair games
LuckyCharms: or all is a fraud
Michael (Avaterra): How is it reliable if someone makes the same suggestion 50 times and
LuckyCharms: we are willing to take the error of margin I think
LuckyCharms: just try us
Michael (Avaterra): we believe it comes from 50 different members if in reality only one individual
LuckyCharms: each avatar name only gets to vote ones
Michael (Avaterra): person has submitted the same thing 50 times?
LuckyCharms: how hard is that to control?
LuckyCharms: do will have a 3 rd world dictatorship or what
LuckyCharms: sorry
LuckyCharms: but with the technology
LuckyCharms: I find it hard to understand that a simple survey can't be done
LuckyCharms: and why can't we have our Caretakers ask us what we want
LuckyCharms: before they make it be
LuckyCharms: could we try it?
LuckyCharms: with general ideas
LuckyCharms: I thought David A. said that he had great feedback from his survey
Michael (Avaterra): What is wrong with sending suggestions or proposals to the
Michael (Avaterra): caretakers or myself?
LuckyCharms: so why can't it work in less important matters
LuckyCharms: ok,
Michael (Avaterra): It can work.
LuckyCharms: I'm getting lots of esps
Michael (Avaterra): But my point is that these results will only point out a
LuckyCharms: about that we have used special voting programs in the past to tabulate things
Michael (Avaterra): trend ... not necessarily the opinion of the majority.
LuckyCharms: but we will take the 10% error margin I think over the no say at all and promises
LuckyCharms: I think
LuckyCharms: well if we are not listening to the people
Michael (Avaterra): The promises ... when I (or anyone else in an official position) tells you (the members) promises something,
LuckyCharms: and are following your trend or the Caretakers trend it's a trend nonetheless
LuckyCharms: just not ours
Michael (Avaterra): then we intend to stick with it. Sometimes circumstances simply change, and we cannot (or are not allowed to) do
LuckyCharms: yes,but I'm saying it's letting YOU off the hock too
Michael (Avaterra): what we originally planned. This risk always exists. The alternative is that I (or we) do
LuckyCharms: if you don't have to make all the promises anymore
Michael (Avaterra): not make any announcements.
LuckyCharms: we can't get mad at ourselfs
LuckyCharms: for going with a trend
LuckyCharms: but even then ,it is our trend at the time we voted
Michael (Avaterra): I think I actually have a good picture of what you folks want, and I even agree with
LuckyCharms: Samantha, thanks for thinking I'm taking up your time
Michael (Avaterra): many suggestions --- but not everything the members want can actually be done.
LuckyCharms: and I hope you will ask all the esp's like I'm trying to
Michael (Avaterra): There are technical limitations, there are restrictions in regard to
LuckyCharms: oh and Michael ,can't you please change our Kash back
Michael (Avaterra): future plans and needs ...
Michael (Avaterra): Of course I will change her back ... it was a joke, and I believe Kashmir would already have
Michael (Avaterra): slaughered me if she had any doubts.
Acolyte Kashmir: can paint me back but I can't take back that damn misclick
Acolyte Kashmir: uh huh
LuckyCharms: well I feel and I'm sorry to say so that I'm being stonewalled here when this was just a simple request to consider and it might just make the people happy and your job easier
LuckyCharms: Kash can I give you something ,a personal thank you?

Norrie: and the other syops were great
Norrie: Michael
Norrie: I want to offer a small suggestion
Norrie: what Lucky Charms said is true
Norrie: we need a system to get suggestion going and votes
Norrie: I remember at christmas in VZ we could get but one tree
Norrie: maybe we could do that here
Norrie: ?
Norrie: one vote
Michael (Avaterra): We considered this -- the device would count how many items were given to avatars, and this could be
Michael (Avaterra): used for votes. The problem here is that this means the item count inworld will increase by hundreds of items for
Michael (Avaterra): each voting.
Michael (Avaterra): We don't have something that you can click on once and it registers your click.
Michael (Avaterra): without giving you something in return.
Caretaker gloree: can they be comsumable items?
Norrie: then perhaps with E-Mail???
Michael (Avaterra): They can be consumable items, but people would have to eat their vote object afterwards... instead of
Michael (Avaterra): keeping it
Caretaker gloree:
Norrie: perhaps you could send us one email per account
Norrie: We do not want MORE items
Norrie: that is not the point
Michael (Avaterra): That would be the best idea... but since we have no (absolutely no) tech resources right now,
Norrie: we just want some say in what happens here
Michael (Avaterra): it cannot be done ...
Michael (Avaterra): LuckyCharms is going to send me a sample for a questionary,
Michael (Avaterra): and Yummy just made a good suggestion that I will consider also.
Norrie: thinking.. but there has to be some way WE can help you and also have some say in outcome
Michael (Avaterra): so.. yes, we are going to do something.
Caretaker gloree: Ambika suggests they buy tokens
Michael (Avaterra): There is another way ... that I discussed with some staff members a while back. We
Norrie: may I ask what suggestion Yummy made?
Michael (Avaterra): could have voting offices ... but that would require a CT, and they would have to keep lists.
Michael (Avaterra): Yummy suggested a web-based voting system with some additional security features that
Michael (Avaterra): prevent multiple votes.
Norrie: that may work
Norrie: there is one other thing
Norrie: well 2
Norrie: I would dearly love to see flat colors of Turf paint
Norrie: we currently have black and white
Norrie: next thing is not vendo related
Norrie:
Michael (Avaterra):
Norrie: we all have patches.. at least that is what MS calles them
Norrie: we have some things that are condoned and some that are not
Norrie: we are able to have multi avvies forinstance
Norrie: I would much prefer this came from Avaterra
Michael (Avaterra): A "patch" is something that modifies the files of the original software distribution.
Norrie: not from out side sources
Michael (Avaterra): The multi launcher is not a patch, it is an add-on.
Norrie: exactly
Michael (Avaterra): Kenn's Painter, for example, is an add-on also, not a patch.
Norrie: but the PlugIn comes from outside not from Avaterra
Michael (Avaterra): Patches are illegal ... and well, quite dangerous.
Michael (Avaterra): Yes, I agree ... but -- it boils down to lack of tech resources,
Norrie: but some of the patches like glue all and unglue all that caretakes or acos have are not dangerous
Norrie: and could be very helpful
Michael (Avaterra): so while I would like to see a multi launcher developed by Avaterra,
Caretaker gloree: glue all?
Michael (Avaterra): it is not likely to available any time soon...or at all.
Acolyte Kashmir: I have glue all?
Norrie: lol
Norrie: someone told me of this in VZ
Acolyte Kashmir: boy I use the wrong avi to decorate then

Michael (Avaterra): It would be a handy option to have, I agree.

Lord Z-Meister: 1.I understand that you have limited tech resources,
Lord Z-Meister: and most here would like to see some unique Item.
Lord Z-Meister: 've seen that we have alot of "tech" talent within the community
Lord Z-Meister: why not deveote some of your tech resources to the creation of an art applet that allows people to do the artwork on there own objects ,...
Lord Z-Meister: you could tehn enter then into thte master database after they met Dreamscape standards
Lord Z-Meister:
Michael (Avaterra): Let me answer this one --- I was not inactive on that front ... I think Avaterra is
Michael (Avaterra): now basically willing to accept artwork submissions. It is not an easy process and there are some
Michael (Avaterra): copyright issues too. For example, if someone submits artwork, they would have to give all
Michael (Avaterra): rights to Avaterra ... I am not sure if all artists would do that, for seeing their creations inworld. However, I
Michael (Avaterra): think it's definitely worth a try ... what is needed first is written specifications -- what exact format is
Lord Z-Meister: I think what I've seen in the "The Sims" has been tremdously effective and popular and no one seems to mind too much about giving up the copyright
Michael (Avaterra): required, how things need to be done to be useful for us. I'll try to get this information and
Michael (Avaterra): make it available. Actually, I will discuss it with David on Monday.
Caretaker gloree: cool
Lord Z-Meister: Thanks,
Lord Z-Meister: 2 smaller point - almost a whine actually
Michael (Avaterra): One thing I need all of you to understand...
Michael (Avaterra): With Delilah currently not being around, there are many things that I
Michael (Avaterra): need to take care of ... many of these things I am not even familiar with and it will take some
Michael (Avaterra): time until I have things "under control". There are many projects that require attention... I am
Michael (Avaterra): going to delegate as much as possible to CTs, staff and other volunteers, but still, it means that not everything
Michael (Avaterra): can be done overnight. I do understand that many of you are sick of hearing this, and rightly so, but
Michael (Avaterra): since it is the truth and can't be changed easily, I think it's only fair that I tell you.
